In feudal Japan, a young
warrior saves his village from a demonic presence, which taints his arm giving
him herculean powers but slowly withers away his life force. Searching for a
cure, he teams up with the title noblewoman and leads a battle against a mining
company who has been wreaking havoc on the land. Miyazaki’s Prince Mononoke is the expected blend of
fantasy and parable, a strange, silly film meant to be taken seriously as an
eco-allegory, but replete with wondrous, imaginative visuals.
